Hi All,
Can someone please elaborate the significance of group_id in gl_interface table?
During "Journal Import" which obviously happens after "Transfer to GL", each "Journal Import" run will create a batch in gl_je_batches. Then, on permutation combination on Source, Category and Curr there would be different headers created in a given batch (gl_je_headers).
During "Transfer to GL", will the same Source, Category and Curr groups are made? and each such group is given a group_id?
What exactly happens during transfer to GL? I mean, assuming the the data will be transfered (copied) from ap sub ledger to gl_interface, how will the grouping be done?
Thanks in advance,
Regards,
Dnyanesh

Hi,
The Group ID distinguishes import data within a particular source like Receivables,Purchasing,Payables etc.
For clear understanding of group id let us take a small example.
Let us say you have Transfered some records from AR and PO to GL.
By seeing at the source column we can distinguish which records came from AR and which records came from PO.
Now let us say you have transferred some records from PO to GL on Monday and again on Tuesday you have transferred some more records from PO to GL.
Now if you want to distinguish these records which came from PO then you will use group id.
Based on the group id you can distinguish the set of records which came on monday and tuesday.
Hope it is clear now.

Hi Arun,
As per your reply you say that the group_id will depend on the combination of 2 things, source (AP, PO.....) and date. But wont category and Currency also play a role in deciding the group_id?
For e.g source is AP, Category is Invoice nad Curre is USD. Will these journals have same group_id as that of Source AP, Category is Payment and Curr is USD.
Regards,
Dnyanesh
