Inventory Material Account

Post by dragon_lady »

Hi,

Our client requires different inventory material account for office supplies, books and uniforms. They are currently using average costing. I tried setting up subinventories for this purpose but couldn't define different material accounts as it only copies the material account defined in the inventory org. How will I be able to satisfy this requirement.

Thanks for your suggestions.

Hi, thanks for taking time to read and give your comment. I believe assigning different material accounts for subinventories is only possible for a standard costing inventory organization. We are using an average costing method and as per tests done, material account cannot be modified upon creating subinventories, the material account assigned in the inventory org is defaulted.

However, we would want to limit creaating inventory orgs for all their inventory material accounts since we will be maintaining 84 operating units with each operating unit having the same number of inventory material accounts. This will be difficult to maintain. So we are looking at setting the different inventory accounts at the subinventory level. Metalink says that it's possible using the product line accounting. I just can't figure out how to set it up. Hope somebody can help me on this. Thanks guys.
