Can any one tell me the Difference between HOT Backup and Cold backup

Hi there
It could be described as, in the HOT backup you don't need to shutdown the database (mostly preferred for PROD database). The RMAN and some other third party backup solutions using RMAN scripts in the background are used for that purpose.
In the cold backup you just need to shutdown the database and move your data files and other important files to backup target storage device.
