DFF compilation is not effecting to all records.

Hi All,
For Supplier site context sensitive DFF.

In global data element two field are already there
I have added the one DFF to the supplier site for org specific. But the issue is that the field is not appearing for the existing supplier site, and the same is appearing when we create the new supplier.
I have compiled and that was successfull and no error in compilation
Do we need to do some other setting to make that DFF appear on the existing data.
Also one check box is there on DFF "Synchronize with the reference field". what is this used for.
