Yes its possible. If

1) Parent Company have 6 segments and subsidiary have 4 than you can make rest 2 segments CAN BE unassigned or if you want to repeat any value top copy again but in diff segment you can do here.

2) if parent have 4 and subsidiary have 6 than after assingng all 4 rest of the 2 is not required to assign. You copy those segments only which is important for consolidation.

Hi Amit

As per my knowledge,

You can consolidate the set of books :

1. the Segment size of the parent sob should be higher than the subsidiary one
2. The values of the subsidiary segment should be include in the parent sob values
3. If the currency is different go for 'Balance' type
4.In other case go for 'Transaction' type
5. If u choose 'Balance' type perform 'Translation' before consolidating

In your first case you can perform consolidation
In your second case you can't perform

Hope this will help You

hi
you can use rollup rules for department, and the rest common segments you use copy value from and the segments which are not there in subsidiary you use assign single value selecting parent company segments.
not assigned is not a segment rule action,by default it is not assigned
