Lot Split

Post by Ritz »

Hi,

I have pick released a lot. The lot is reserved for a specific customer (ABC).

I have now received an urgent order from another customer(XYZ).

I now want to split the lot (meant for ABC) and dispatch part of the lot to XYZ.

How do I do this? How do I transfer the reservations to XYZ?

Note -
1. The product is a finished good item.
2. All relevant lot control including lot split is activated for this item.
3. Item is reservable
4. Apps version is 11.5.10.2

Please advice.
Thanks,
Ritz

Hi,
You have to backorder the delivery has the qty located to the ABC customer, and from Sales order screen manually you have to assign the Qtys that you need to booth XYZ and ABC customers (from tools menu) and you can proceed with normal flow ((release booth orders- ship conform).
I hope this will helping you, if you need details or screen shoots of process just ask

Forgot to mention that you have to specify stage sub inventory when you do releasing to both specific orders, or you have to transfer the qty first from staging S-inventory to the main sup inventory that you will usually ship from(Finished good S-inventory)

Once you do backorderto delivery lines the reservation on this delivery will be released (will not be existed anymore), and the lot will automatically be updated with the qty you released (by doing backorder to delivery lines) and it will increase onhand avaliability with released Qty for that item/ lot/serials.

Also you can allocate the qty had been released from reservation in staging sub inventory, because doing backorder to delivery number lines will NOT transfer it's qty to any where, it will only release the reservation but qty will remain at staging sub inventory.

Also you might need to pick the qty from staging sub inventory by specifying it in release screen or do transfer required qty back from staging to it original sub inventory. (subinventory transfer)

Thanks , It is clear now. Only one small point left for transfering reservations. There are several users (sales persons) working on thie instance for the same Operating unit.

When I back order , the items stay (un-reserved) in the staging area. Now I need to ship it to some other customer , thereby transferring the reservations to the back ordered items.

This involves some time.

In this time interval some other sales person ships those (unreserved) items to his customers. Can I avoid this?

Unfortunately (AS fare as I know) u have to transfer the qty from staging sub inventory to the specifying on hand sub inventory MANUALY, that because the system will not know which sub inventory you need to transfer to.
Anyway I am investigating for a solution of this problem and how to do it automatically.
I am thinking to create a database trigger to fire when system create line in shipment screen as backordered status and automatically insert this line in transaction interface table.

User will run concurrent request (or schedule) to import these transactions to it sub inventories after specifying the suggested transferred sub inventory by defining DFF shipment line level-, of-course it should have defaulting value and could be changed on shipment line DFF).
This should be tested very carefully?., and in other hand and to simplify the process we can customize alert to notify stock keeper to transfer the qty from staging to shipment sub inventory.
