Mass Allocation & Recurring Formula differences
Mass Allocation & Recurring Formula differences
Hi,
Could some one tell me the difference between Recurring Journals Formula and Mass Allocation.

The difference is in the name itself.
Recurring journals are used to create the same kind of journals (either account or amount or both) repeatedly. It saves the user time and minimises the data entry mistakes.
Mass Allocation is used to allocate the account balances from one account to multiple accounts. For example, you can allocate the training expenses from the corporate cost center to individual departments using mass allocation.

If you have fixed amount to be allocated, then you can use both recurring and mass allocation.
1. You can allocate the expenses to various cost centers, accounts with the statistical journals (ex: per usage) using mass allocation formula.
2. You can have multiple level of allocation. i.e you can define multiple mass allocation and execute it as a group.

Hi,
1. Recurring Formula Journal Entry is a single line entry,Mass allocation is multiple line entry.
2. In RF JE, we have to follow formula - [ ( A + B ) * C ] / ( D + G )], but in the case of Mass Allocation , we have to follow - [cost pool*usage factor/Total Usage factor] formula.
3. In RFJE, ABCD...will be accounts and formula, but in Mass Allocation C-Constant, L-lopping, S-Summing, T-Target(Final Value), O-Offset(Stores the value to Distribute the allocation)
Kindly check the following link for example....
http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/A607 ... /index.htm
and go for General Ledger--->Recurring Journal-->Entering Formulas with EasyCalc
and for Mass Allocation Example---->General Ledger--->Mass Allocation--->MassAllocation Examples
If any thing is wrong, kindly let me know.
